Cornerstone Africa Group
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
To provide secure investment and thorough risk management, to achieve excellence, value, growth and profitability through rigorous attention to the building of the business on a sustainable basis.
OUR INVESTMENT STRATEGY
The Group’s investment objective is to provide shareholders with long term capital appreciation through strategic investments in Sub Saharan Africa.
While the Group does not confine itself to particular sectoral focus, utilising the investment skills of the Directors and their advisors, the Group will identify individual companies best positioned to benefit in Sub Saharan Africa. The Group may make investments in the tourism, accommodation, infrastructure development, commercial and residential property, technology, communication, manufacturing, retail services, leisure, agricultural and natural resources sectors.
There is no limit on the number or size of investments the Group can make in any sector, however, the Directors will seek to diversify the group’s investments across various sectors in order to mitigate risk and to avoid concentrating the portfolio in any single sector.
The Group’s interest in a proposed investment or acquisition may range from a minority position to full ownership. The Group intends in any event, to actively manage the operations of the companies it has invested in. To this end, the Group will either establish or acquire a management team. Wherever possible, the Group will seek to achieve board control or financial control of its portfolio companies.
The Directors believe that through their individual and collective experience of investing and managing acquisitions and disposals in Africa, they have the necessary skills to manage the Group and to steer it into one of the most successful and profitable enterprises in Africa and internationally.
Prior to any investment decisions being taken by the Board of the Group, a thorough due diligence process will be undertaken by the Group’s appointed independent specialist financial and legal advisors. The Directors will seek the consent of the Shareholders for the investment policy and strategy on an annual basis.
Presently Cornerstone has been investing on the Stock Exchanges where value is identified and it is more likely that at some point, it will initiate a substantial investment and ultimately a reverse takeover of a listed company. At this stage that will be subject to rigorous evaluation of future prospects. So the strategic emphasis on investments is investing in sustainable businesses with an advantage towards development and growth. This will ultimately become the vehicle for investments to achieve diversity.
The company has a 50% shareholding in Energy Unlimited recently established to add sustainability to renewable energy and 100% in Cornerstone Consulting Group focusing on advisory services.
Currently the company is also pursuing opportunities in mining and natural resources and will assess venturing into tourism at some point once there is normalcy in the world order.
As the opportunities unfold, the Group will venture into real estate as well as technology. The Group’s outlook should see it establishing itself as a conglomerate with investments in multi-business sectors which will make it an investment holding company, as opposed to managing funds like an investment fund company.
